Heidelberg Golf Club is seeking the services of an experienced Course Superintendent to oversee and maintain the upkeep of the course and surrounding grounds.  The successful applicant will become an integral member of the management team and report directly to the General Manager.

Heidelberg Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72, semi-private golf club located in Lower Plenty, Melbourne. The club has over 1000 members and offers both golf and bowls to its members. The grounds consists of an 18 hole course, two practice fairways, a large practice putting green and short game area. The course has Santa Ana fairways and Bent/Poa annua greens.

This is a challenging role and the successful applicant will have knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas

  • Proven organisational skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems, meet deadlines, organise work activities and achieve results
  • Management of Bent/Poa annua grass putting greens growing under stressful conditions
  • Water resource management
  • Thorough knowledge of irrigation system operation, maintenance and repair
  • Planning and scheduling of contractors when required;
  • Instruction on proper and safe use of all associated course equipment
  • A thorough knowledge of turf registered pesticides and operation/supervision of pesticide application equipment
  • An up-to-date knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of course operations
  • Performing HR management duties such as evaluation, employee safety controls and disciplinary actions where required
  • Preparing clear and concise reports, for management and sub committees
  • Maintaining effective employee, management and public relations

You will also:

  • Be self-motivated, punctual and have the ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Have a proven track record of developing staff
  • Have an innate knowledge of Golf Course operations and a strong understanding of the game of golf
  • Have strong leadership and problem-solving skills, taking initiative based on professional judgement
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Can work as a valued team member
  • Have exceptional personal presentation standards
  • Have ability to work pro-actively under pressure
