Idyllic Dunsborough, Margaret River Region, Western Australia

Dunsborough Lakes – 18 Hole Championship Course

Salary $70-$75K plus Super, Vehicle, Fuel, Phone.

The Location

Dunsborough is an idyllic and fast growing coastal town of approximately 5000 people situated some 250 kilometres south of Perth on the shores of Geographe Bay.  It is one of WA’s premier tourist and holiday destinations ideally located within the Margaret River region and famous for its sublime coast and beaches, great surfing, beautiful forests, premium wineries, boutique breweries and fine dining restaurants.
The Course

The Dunsborough Lakes Golf Club was established in 1993.  The 18-hole championship course of 6204m was originally designed by Australian PGA great Alan Murray.  The course is fully reticulated and comprises undulating 1019 Providence Bent greens and wide Hybrid Wintergreen fairways interspersed with many lakes and water features which host a wide variety of native bird life.  The course has a unique mixture of soil types and is highly regarded as one of the best maintained in the south west.  Fully owned by the membership, the Club controls its own destiny and is blessed to have a stable, growing membership and an exciting future.

The pending retirement of our Course Superintendent after 16 years with DLGC has created this rare opportunity.  Ultimately your primary role is to take full ownership of the golf course and to consistently deliver the highest possible presentation and playing conditions.  With a small team of 4.5 staff this position demands a hands-on approach. Specifically your key responsibilities will be to:

• Plan and organise all daily, monthly and annual work programs

• Develop, monitor and report on maintenance and capital budgets

• Provide strategic input into long term planning and development of the course

• Oversee all vehicles, plant and equipment

• Lead, direct and develop staff

• Ensure WHS and environmental compliance
The Person

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

• A minimum of 10 years experience in golf course and turf management

• Experience at Course Superintendent or 2IC level

• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and construction of irrigation and drainage systems

• A sound understanding of the mechanical requirements in vehicle and equipment maintenance

• Demonstrated skills and experience leading and developing a high performing team
