The Pakenham Racing Club is committed to becoming a leading Racing, Hospitality & Entertainment provider in the growth corridor of south east Melbourne. Pakenham Racing Club opened its new Tynong racecourse in March 2015. Currently with 4 tracks, made up of 1 turf, 1 synthetic and 2 sand training tracks, and a turf training track nearing completion in August 17, the Club is considered to be one of the busiest racing tracks in Australia.

To assist with our aggressive growth plan and to ensure we continue to deliver the best racing and training surfaces in Australia, PRC are looking for a Turf Management technician to join the team. Reporting to the Team Leader – Tracks & Facilities, you’ll be working with some of the most experienced & knowledgeable Turf specialists in the country.

Some of the essential skills and experience we want you to have are:

• Formal qualifications in Horticulture specialising in Turf Management
• Proven experience in computerised irrigation systems & turf pesticide applications and experience in of sand based turf systems systems.
• A strong understanding of occupational health & safety requirements within the turf management industry.
• Must hold valid licenses for applying pesticides, and driving the various machinery associated with turf & track management.
• Be committed to working a variety of days each week that can include evenings and weekends when the Club has scheduled race meetings.
• Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player.
• An understanding of the Thoroughbred racing industry would be an advantage but not a pre¬requisite.

The position is full time permanent and is based on an average of 38 hours per week. A remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant and will be based on the Clubs Enterprise Agreement.
