The AGCSA, in conjunction with Platinum Partner Amgrow, is delighted to announce that it will be hosting two regional walk ‘n’ talk sessions in Victoria in the coming weeks. These walk ‘n’ talk days are free of charge to ALL members of the turf industry regardless of what sector you operate in. Dates and venues for these sessions are:

  • Monday 18 September: Warrnambool Golf Club (host superintendent David Warnaar)
  • Tuesday 19 September: Axedale Golf Club, Bendigo (host superintendent Glen Frewin)

Headlining both walk ‘n’ talks will be Kingston Heath Golf Club course superintendent Hayden Mead. Hayden is one of Australia’s foremost superintendents and has been in charge of the famed Melbourne sandbelt course since May 2012. Prior to that, he was superintendent at nearby Spring Valley Golf Club for seven years. During his 12 years as a superintendent, Hayden has hosted a raft of major tournaments including four Victorian Opens, the 2012 Talisker Australian Masters and, most recently, the 2016 ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf.

As part of these regional walk ‘n’ talks, Hayden will give a presentation on last year’s World Cup and the work that went on behind the scenes to get the course ready for this prestigious event. Hayden will then join with AGCSATech senior agronomist Bruce Macphee and the host superintendent for a course walk. These walk ‘n’ talk sessions are a very popular format and their informal nature ensures there is always plenty of discussion and debate about maintenance practices and challenges that confront turf managers and their staff on a daily basis.

These regional walk in talk sessions will be rolled out in other states in the coming months, so for those not in Victoria make sure you keep an eye out on the AGCSA website for further details as they are finalised.
