The Players Championship (TPC) Sawgrass Volunteer Program Update

Saturday 21, Nov 2020

The team at John Deere have provided an update regarding The Players Championship (TPC) Sawgrass Volunteer Program for 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, John Deere have made the difficult decision to withdraw involvement in the 2021 The Players Championship (TPC) Sawgrass Volunteer Program.

This decision is fully supported by the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association in the interests of the health and safety of all volunteers, course staff and the team at John Deere.

TPC Sawgrass Volunteer Program, which debuted last year, offered Australian and New Zealand representatives the opportunity to travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA, to assist in the lead up to the famed Stadium Course for the Championship.  The Program has received significant interest, and all the applicants who have submitted a video for the 2021 event will automatically qualify for Stage 2 of the next TPC Volunteer Program hosted by John Deere. Any applicant who did not qualify for Stage 2 this year will have the opportunity to re-apply for the 2022 event.

The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association would like to thank all applicants for the time and effort put into applying for the 2021 Program and the opportunity to assist with the course management at TPC Sawgrass.

Further, the Association would also like to thank John Deere for their continued commitment to the Sports Turf Management industry, and for making the courageous decision to ensure the continued priority of safety and welfare of all applicants for the volunteer Program.

Further announcements will be made in due course relating to the applications and details for the 2022 TPC Sawgrass Volunteer Program in mid-2021.
