The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association, formerly The Australian Golf Course Superintendents' Association (ASTMA), today announced the publishing of its updated Strategic Plan for 2019 - 2023 to members.
The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is a not-for-profit industry association formed in 1981 (as the Australian Golf Course Superintendents' Association), and has evolved into the largest industry association in Australia for professional Sports Turf Managers. With over 1,500 members throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is committed to the ongoing education, development and support of all professionals involved in Turf Management.
In 2015, the then Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (ASTMA) undertook a Strategic Review; an approach to determine issues and opportunities for the Association and develop a Strategic Plan for the period 2015 to 2018.
In developing the Strategic Plan, the key goals from past strategic plans, first developed in 2007 and updated in September 2010, were referenced as a starting position. The need for change The period of 2015 to 2018 was a time of substantial change and in some regard, instability at the ASTMA following the departure of numerous long-serving staff members and several changes in Management.
With the conclusion of the previous Strategic Plan in 2018, the opportunity for review of Association objectives, coupled with increasing desire for change with an evolving Sports Turf Management industry, an opportunity exists for development of a new Strategic Direction for the Association and indeed, the industry.
