Update for Victorian Members
Following on from previous correspondence and recent announcements from the Victorian Government made today (August 3, 2020) relating to industry and business operations under the State of Disaster due to COVID-19, we have been in regular discussions with the related State Government departments today, and can provide an update to Victorian members on the advice received this afternoon.
Under Stage 4 ‘Stay at Home’ Restrictions the default is that workplaces in metropolitan Melbourne are closed unless the workplace is part of a permitted industry.
Throughout many discussions over the past week, we have continued to stress the importance of maintaining turf sport & recreation facilities to the Government, and have today received advice that an exemption has been granted for turf management practices. More detail on this exemption is outlined below -
Metropolitan Community Sport & Recreation Facilities and Golf Clubs
OPEN (for on premise work) under a ratified COVID Safe Plan
All open businesses and services will have until 11:59pm Friday 7 August to enact a COVIDSafe plan focused on safety, prevention and response in the event that coronavirus is linked to the workplace.
The development and requirements of these COVID Safe Plans is being worked through and we will provide further advice once it is in hand from the State Government.
Regional Victoria & Mitchell Shire Facilities
In the announcement yesterday, the Premier of Victoria has announced a move to Stage 3 restrictions in Regional Victoria effective from 11:59 pm on Wednesday, August 5, and confirmed that Mitchell Shire will remain at Stage 3 restriction levels.
Similarly, the exemption provided for Metropolitan facilities extends to Regional Victoria & Mitchell Shire facilities for essential maintenance for safety and upkeep of public and recreational spaces, such as parks, gardens, golf courses
Further information on total restrcitions and business expemptions should they be required for your facility, are avaible under Other Services, here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/updates/coronavirus-covid-19/premiers-statement-business-restrictions
We have now turned our attention to the development of requirements under COVID Safe Plans, and will be in touch again once further details on maintenance and sports turf management requirements are finalised.
If you have specific questions or require additional information related to your facility or situation, please do not hesitate to contact the team at the Association, and we will endeavour to provide as much assistance as possible in this challenging time for all.
