Mental Health Support Related to COVID-19

Given the state of the world right now and uncertainty around individual health and work security, addressing your mental health is important.  It is not uncommon to worry especially during these trying times. 

There are plenty of resources out there and we are here to support all those in the turf industry work through challenges during this difficult time. 


As of March 29th, Beyond Blue received $10 million for a dedicated national mental health support service related the coronavirus outbreak.  According to Beyond Blue, “The new COVID-19 Mental Health Support Service, from Beyond Blue, will offer free information, counselling and referrals online and by phone.”  Don’t be afraid to reach out for support if you feel you need it. 

The Australian Psychological Society has some advice about how to maintain positive mental health during the Coronavirus outbreak.  We have included some of that advice below, along with advice from Beyond Blue. 

  • Avoid negative information.  If you are finding social media is contributing to your negative mindset, turn it off for a few days to see if it helps. 
  • Remember that the government, medical experts and scientists are following strict protocols to contain the virus.
  • Connect with others that may be having the same concerns.  Beyond Blue has an online forum related to COVID-19 where you can share likeminded concerns and frustrations. 
  • Get your news from a trustworthy source.  Watching the news on loop or relying on social media for your news can have a negative effect on your mental health.  We have included some reliable news sources below. 
  • Engage in healthy activities that you enjoy.
  • Contact friends and family by phone or text to stay connected to the ones you love.
