Certification Program - Call for Member Assistance

Friday 24, Jan 2020

The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is looking for the assistance of its members to help trial and test a new program set to launch in 2020 – a Sports Turf Manager Industry Certification Program.

The Association has previously operated an Accreditation program for members which was effective at delivering a focus on education and training, though it has been inactive for some years.  We have updated and redesigned the Program over the last 12 months, and are looking to re-launch the updated program in early 2020.

We are asking for a group of members to be involved in helping us to evaluate, review and trial the program and provide feedback prior to its industry launch.

Over the next few months, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is preparing to launch an industry Certification Program for Sports Turf Managers.
The Certification Program is aimed at encouraging Turf Managers to invest in their professional development, and recognise broadly to the Australian Sporting industry the profession of Sports Turf Managers as providing an essential role to Sport & Recreation.

The Program is designed to recognise Turf professionals that have attained accreditation, through recognition of prior experience, completion of an industry assessment, and investing into their education through engaging in Continual Professional Development (CPD).

Continual Professional Development refers to the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge, training and experience that Sports Turf Managers gain formally, beyond any initial training.

Continual Professional Development recognises member education as well as assisting to elevate the Sports Turf Management profession through demonstrating a commitment to education, personal development, environmental stewardship and continuing professional development.

The objective of Continual Professional Development is about both behavioural and workplace capabilities, as well as technical Turf Management competence to keep professional knowledge and skills current, advance member education, develop and adapt careers, and maintain industry certification.

The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association Continual Professional Development program helps members to develop their potential, while elevating the profession through knowledge and learning process.

The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association encourages Sports Turf Managers to embrace ongoing learning, continue industry support and engagement, with the Program assisting members in their development gaps and needs, plan their education activities, and record outcomes.
