Support for those affected by the Australian Bushfires

Wednesday 08, Jan 2020

As Australia’s devastating bushfire emergencies continue, Bushfire Disaster Appeals have been established to support communities affected by the recent bushfires throughout NSW, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, Tasmania and other impacted areas across the country.

Indeed, a number of our members have been impacted directly in their local communities, through evacuations, impacted facilities, and we also have members assisting with local recovery and fire-fighting needs.

To support these fundraising and recovery efforts, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association will be making a donation on behalf of all Members of $500 to each State and Territory to support the relevant Rural or Country Fire Services, totalling $4000.

We are also working with a number of Sporting Organisations and Industry Councils over the next few days to develop additional efforts to support these affected communities, with further announcements on these initiatives to follow.

In addition to this, over the coming weeks and months we will be working with State and Local emergency management personnel who are currently supporting local councils and recovery committees in the affected areas, to assess the needs of their communities for infrastructure, Club assistance and repair or rebuild of sporting facilities.  As these emergencies are ongoing, we expect this work to be some weeks or more away. We will keep members updated as it develops. Please keep an eye on our website as we make these announcements.

Our thoughts are with all those affected.
