The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is pleased to advise that the 27th meeting of the Australian Industry and Skills Commission (AISC) was held on 13 August 2019.
At this meeting, the revised Sports Turf Management Qualifications were fully endorsed as part of version four of the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package.
Subject matter experts from most states, representing education, sportsfields, bowls, cricket and golf, worked together to develop Qualifications that would meet industry requirements both now and into the future. Wider consultation was then sought, with industry associations across the country endorsing the final submission.
A more in depth look at the new qualifications, requirements and the rationale behind them will be detailed in the next Australian Turfgrass Management Journal in October 2019.
A lot of work by sectors of the Sports Turf Management industry went into this process, underlining what can be achieved when working together.
The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association would like to acknowledge and thank all those who gave their time to help support the future of our industry, and to National Turf Education Working Group chairs Hugh Gardiner and Albert Sherry and the Simone Staples for all their work, commitment and passion during this process, and the great outcome for Sport Turf Management in Australia.
