The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association will be hosting a series of Environmental & Vegetation Management education seminars throughout Australia, covering environmental stewardship at Turf facilities
With an increase in the awareness and focus on Environmental Management throughout the community relating to environmental stewardship in greenspace areas, Turf Managers are closely looking at opportunities for environmental, water and ecosystem management and also fauna habitat management and restoration.
This approach often leads to improvements integrity and viability of the ecological community, reduction in threats to environmentally significant areas, and improvements in local fauna and threatened flora and fauna species, soil stability and erosion control.
An Environmental Management Plan or Vegetation Management Plan is an approach undertaken by many Turf Managers and Greenspace facilities, to provide active management actions for the management of vegetation for conservation purposes.
An Environmental & Vegetation Management Plan may often be referred to as:
• Biodiversity Management Plans
• Bushland Management Plans
• Conservation Management Plans
• Vegetation Rehabilitation Plans
In this series of Environmental & Vegetation seminars, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association, in partnership with Syngenta, will explore the approach and benefits of developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans in Greenspace areas including Council reserves, Golf Courses and Sports Turf Facilities.
