Lonergan Awarded Life Membership

Wednesday 10, Jul 2019

The Syngenta-sponsored Turf Industry Awards Dinner held at the 2019 Turf Management conference was highlighted by the awarding of AGCSA life membership to current AGCSA Board member and past president Peter Lonergan

The long-serving Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club Superintendent was recognised for his unstinting service over many years to the AGCSA, as well as the Victorian Golf Course Superintendents Association and Golf Course Superintendents Association of Queensland, both of which he is a past president and committee member.

Lonergan becomes just the second person to receive AGCSA life membership and follows in the footsteps of Doug Robinson who was a past superintendent at Coolangatta & Tweed Heads.

“The life membership came as a complete shock and it has been a very humbling experience to be mentioned in the same breath as Doug Robinson,” says Lonergan.

“There have been many other stalwart AGCSA Board members and employees over the years that have seen us grow from a zero bank balance to an organisation now turning over $2 million and maintaining financial stability and that is something of which we should all be justifiably proud.

My commitment to the various associations over the years has been a result of my passion for the industry, not done for recognition, but life membership is indeed an honour that I will cherish with great pride.”
