The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is launching an industry leading series of education seminars focussing on Professional Development for Sports Turf Managers, with the first sessions commencing in November 2019.
Over the next 6 months, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association will be introducing a program of training seminars, covering topics including Project Management, Presentation Skills, Time Management and Excel training are all designed to develop the Professional competencies of Turf Managers.
Recent feedback from the 2019 Conference, found that nearly 75% of leaders in the Turf Industry indicated that their role is changing, and the development of “professional skills” are more important than ever before in performing their role. "Professional skills refer to the range of management competencies critical to the role of a Leader, rapidly increasing in importance however are too often overlooked as part of training and development for Sports Turf Managers" said Mark Unwin, Chief Executive of the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association. "The program covers topics such as the ability to manage time and work effectively, create and deliver presentations, through to computer literacy and collaboration skills - all of which leaders in the turf management industry require daily". To help assist Sports Turf Managers in this evolving area of the industry, the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association is introducing a pilot program to continue developing the knowledge of Turf Managers. With the first sessions launching in November, over the following 6 months the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association will be facilitating a series of over 40 face-to-face workshops and training modules to develop core skills needed in the modern workforce. These pilot courses will be conducted in various States across Australia, and used to determine areas of interest and required skills development opportunities which will form the basis for an expanded Professional Skills Development Program for Turf Managers in 2020. |
