Download the free Australian Turfgrass Conference app!

With the 28th Australian Turfgrass Conference and Trade Exhibition just days away, technically-minded delegates can now download the official conference app!

Taking a lead from the GCSAA’s Golf Industry Show, the AGCSA is trialling a cross-platform mobile app for this year’s Melbourne conference. Powered by CrowdCompass, the app is completely FREE and can be used on any smart-phone/tablet device. You can now download the app from any app store (e.g.: iTunes) – simply type in AGCSA or Australian Turfgrass Conference into your app store search engine (the app icon is displayed right).

The AGCSA is putting the finishing touches to the content aspect of the app as you read this and it will contain everything you need to know about the event in Melbourne. Delegates will be able to:

  • View profiles on all conference speakers and presenters;
  • View complete conference schedule and events for each day (you can view these either by day or by stream; session details include time, room, speaker details and synopsis). You can flag favourite sessions which will automatically be added to Your Favourites.
  • View companies that are exhibiting in the trade exhibition. Each trade exhibitor listing includes their booth number and also contact details (phone and website);
  • View conference venue maps;
  • Post real-time messages with other delegates. The AGCSA will also be able to broadcast messages to delegates reminding them of events/sessions etc...;
  • Tweet about sessions (if you are on Twitter) and rate sessions;
  • Take notes (each session within the schedule is set up with the ability to take notes);
  • Share contact information with other delegates;
  • Use the inbuilt QR code scanner;
  • Search within the app (for instance if you are unsure of when a certain speaker is presenting just type their name into the search engine)

The AGCSA encourages all delegates who have a smart-phone to download the app and give it a whirl during the conference. The AGCSA hopes to develop the app for future conferences so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The launch of the new conference app ties in nicely with the Social Media 101 workshop to be presented by Nadeem Zreikat (Colin Campbell Chemicals) and Robin Doodson (Sanctuary Cove G&CC) in Melbourne. Nadeem and Robin (pictured) will offer a general introduction to social networking websites and how to use social media as an effective business tool. Concentrating on turf related apps, blogs, Twitter and Facebook, this is a great workshop for those who want to make more use of their smart phones but are not sure how.
