Odell tops honours at 2012 AGCSA Awards

 

Former Royal Sydney Golf Club course superintendent of 24 years John Odell was bestowed the AGCSA’s highest honour at last week’s 28th Australian Turfgrass Conference in Melbourne. Odell joined a who’s who of the golf course and turf management profession after being bestowed the AGCSA Distinguished Service Award which was presented during the President’s Dinner held at the MCG on Thursday. The AGCSA Distinguished Service Award was one of six awards handed out on the evening and the AGCSA, together with the STA, have great delight in congratulating the following winners:

AGCSA Excellence in Golf Course Management Award
Presented in partnership with John Deere
Winner: Ben Tilley (Headland Golf Club, QLD)

AGCSA Claude Crockford Environmental Award
Presented in partnership with Bayer
Winner: Steve Marsden (Cape Kidnappers, NZ)

AGCSA Graduate of the Year Award
Presented in partnership with Toro Australia
Winner: David Canterbury (Adelaide Shores, formerly Kiama GC, NSW)

AGCSA Award for Academic Achievement
Presented in partnership with PGG Wrightson Seeds
Winner: Scott Roberts (Sebastopol Bowling Club, VIC)

STA National Sports Turf Graduate of the Year
Presented in partnership with Toro Australia
Winner: Rory Bairnsfather-Scott (WACA, WA)
