Volunteers wanted for 2011 Australian PGA Championships

Hyatt Regency Coolum course superintendent and AGCSA member Dean Henderson has contacted The Cut this week with a great opportunity for those in the industry keen to experience this year’s Australian PGA Championship.

Henderson is seeking experienced greenkeeping volunteers to be a part of the team assisting with preparing the course during the week of the tournament which will be held from 24-27 November. About 20 volunteers are sought and they will be provided with meals and entrance to the PGA event plus one night’s accommodation and a round of golf to be taken in 2012.  Already Henderson has volunteers coming from as far afield as Ireland, Canada and South Africa for this year's tournament.

This is a sensational opportunity to gain valuable tournament experience as well as watch some of the world’s top players in action. Just this week, 2009 US PGA champion Y.E. Yang, who is part of the International team for the Presidents Cup, confirmed as a starter for the Australian PGA, joining the likes of Greg Norman, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Geoff Ogilvy, Bubba Watson, Darren Clarke, Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley and John Senden.

Hyatt Regency Coolum is located on the Sunshine Coast, 90 minutes north of Brisbane.  The resort grounds cover 150 hectares of natural woodlands, bushland, rainforest and gardens.  Designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, the golf course will this year host its tenth Australian PGA Championship.
