Rain Bird's award programme goes global

Rain Bird’s annual Intelligent Use of Water Awards programme is expanding this year by going global. Australian golf courses and turf facilities are being encouraged to nominate for the interactive grant programme which awards funds to water conservation and environmental sustainability projects that promote water conservation and green spaces in communities around the world.

A global initiative, anyone with access to the Internet can submit a project via the Intelligent Use of Water Awards website http://www.iuowawards.com and promote it within his or her own community and through social media. All projects submitted to the site are anonymously voted on by visitors (each visitor can cast a maximum of one vote a day per project). The projects earning the most votes at the end of the voting period in March 2011 will receive funding. Ten projects will receive funding at three different levels: $US1500 (four awards), $US5000 (three awards), and $US10,000 (three awards). The awards will be given on World Water Day, March 22, 2011.
