Curlewis Golf Club wins Smart Water Fund grant
Curlewis Golf Club on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula has been successful in the latest round of funding announced by the Victorian Government’s Smart Water Fund. Home to course superintendent Rob Bradley, Curlewis Golf Club was one of 17 organisations to receive a total of $2 million in round seven grants which were announced in late May. The fund provides grants to help develop new and innovative ‘next generation’ solutions to water conservation, water recycling and biosolids management.
Curlewis Golf Club, located about 10 minutes from Geelong, is currently in the throes of setting up a sewer mining plant which it hopes will solve its water management issues. Curlewis becomes the second Victorian golf club in as many rounds to gain funding from the Smart Water Fund. In round six, Kingswood Golf Club in south east Melbourne (superintendent Terry Ford) was successful in securing a grant for its aquifer storage and recharge scheme.
