First Year Apprentice Greenkeeper
Hi, my name is David Johnston and I am currently employed at The Belfry Golf Centre in the UK. My UK work visa expires the end of March 2012 and I am keen to return to Australia to further expand on my experience gained at the Belfry and to commence a career in turf management and greenkeeping. I have been accepted into the Certificate III Horticulture (Turf) course at Kurri Kurri TAFE NSW (commencing the course in April upon my arrival home) and I am now seeking a first year apprentice greenkeeper (golf) position, ideally in the northern Sydney, central coast or Newcastle/Hunter regions to assist with my studies.
My current duties at The Belfry include mowing of fairways, greens, tees and collars (have Toro machinery training certificate and experience with a range of Toro mowers), bunker raking and maintenance, setting up of course including changing holes, repairing divots, general turfing and returfing, aeration and hollow coring of turf surfaces, topdressing and seeding and fertilising with manual spreaders.
Current work referees include the head greenkeeper and the water resources and ground manager at the Belfry golf centre.
