Apprentice Greenkeeper: Brisbane City Council
Brisbane City Council is seeking the services of an enthusiastic apprentice greenkeeper (turf) for council's operated golf courses located at both St Lucia and Herston.
In the role of apprentice greenkeeper, you will be part of a team responsible for the day to day maintenance and presentation of high profile public pay and play golf courses. Specifically, you will assist the resident superintendent
and greenkeeping staff in the maintenance of all turfed areas of the golf course. Duties include mowing, turf laying and renovation, fertiliser application and pest and disease control. The successful applicant will also undertake training in safe machinery operation, turf machinery maintenance and the safe use of pesticides in a public space.
To be the successful applicant you will have:
- a minimum education standard (year 10 level) in English and mathematics
- the ability to get to either golf course (your own transport would be beneficial due to the locations)
- a Certificate II in horticulture (this is an advantage but is not essential)
- enthusiasm, and an understanding of golfer's needs.
Due to the opening hours it is a requirement that staff are available for some duties on weekends and at other times. Normal hours of business are 6am to 3pm, seven days a week.
This is a three year apprenticeship and on completion you will receive a Certificate III in Horticulture (Turf).
