Moore confirmed as keynote for 2011 conference
The AGCSA is delighted to announce that highly regarded greens construction authority and all round good guy Jim Moore (pictured) from the USGA will be heading Down Under for the 27th Australian Turfgrass Conference and Trade Exhibition in Adelaide next year. Moore confirmed his availability as a keynote presenter for the conference this week and will be making his second trip to Australia in seven years after presenting as a keynote at the 2004 conference in Melbourne.
“When we had our recent conference planning session, Jim’s name kept coming up again and again,” says AGCSA events manager Simone Staples. “Not only is Jim an authority on anything to do with USGA greens and their construction he is also highly entertaining and thought-provoking and he is always a very popular presenter. We are delighted to have secured him for next year.”
Stay tuned to next week’s edition for another keynote announcement.

If there is one book which has established itself as a seminal text for the Australian turf and horticulture industries over the past quarter century, it is without question Kevin Handrek and Neil Black’s Growing Media for Ornamental Plants and Turf. After three reprints of the first edition in 1996, 1989 and 1991, revised editions were released in 1994 and 2002. Earlier in 2010 Handreck and Black released the fourth edition which has again been substantially revised and updated. The AGCSA currently has a number of copies of this book in stock and AGCSA members can pick up a copy for just $65 (non-members $79.95). To order your copy contact Lyndel Conway at the AGCSA or call (03) 9548 8600.
