AGCSA Distinguished Service Award

The AGCSA Distinguished Service Award, presented in partnership with Everris, is bestowed by the AGCSA Board and recognises an individual who has left an indelible mark on the Australian golf course turf management profession. Be it through their excellence in greenkeeping over a long period, their prowess at research, their contribution to education, or their strident representation of industry needs, the AGCSA Distinguished Service Award recognises someone who has made that extra effort and for whom the industry owes a great deal of gratitude.

Selection Criteria
Nominations will be accepted for this category from within the golf and greater turf industry. New nominees will be vetted by AGCSA staff and the AGCSA Board will then vote to have them added to the Distinguished Service Award register.

Requirements
In no less than 750 words explain how the nominee has left an indelible mark on the turf management industry. Please refer to the individual's area of expertise, detailing their contribution to the Australian golf/turf industry.

Nominations
The AGCSA accepts nominations for the Distinguished Service Award all year round.

2011 AGCSA Distinguished Service Award

Joint Recipients: Phil Ford (University of Ballarat) and Frank Dempsey (NSI Ryde TAFE)
There wouldn’t have been many people who attended the President’s Dinner on the final night of the 27th Australian Turfgrass Conference in Adelaide who haven’t been influenced by Frank Dempsey and Phil Ford over the past three decades. Joint winners of the 2011 AGCSA Distinguished Service Award, presented in partnership with Everiss (formerly Scotts Professional), both Dempsey and Ford have taught the art of greenkeeping to fledgling superintendents and turf managers in NSW and Victoria for a combined period of almost 60 years.
