General Manager

Peter Frewin 
Profile: Appointed AGCSA general manager in November 2011,
Peter has a turf management career which spans more than 30 years. Peter began as an apprentice at Cheltenham Golf Club before taking up positions at Maryborough and Rich River golf clubs. Following a stint as assistant at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney, in 1988 Frewin was appointed superintendent at Barwon Heads Golf Club, a position he held until June 2009 when he resigned to join Globe Australia. Peter was highly active at both state and national association level, serving as VGCSA president from 1993-1997 and AGCSA president from 1998-2002. In 2009, Peter was bestowed the association's highest honour - the AGCSA Distinguished Service Award.

Lyndel ConwayLyndel Conway 
Membership Manager
Profile: Lyndel started with the AGCSA just a few weeks after the 2009 Australian Turfgrass Conference in Hobart. Lyndel looks after all things membership related and arrives at the AGCSA after admin and membership roles with the Swimming Pool and Spas Association and Access Guard Franchising. Andrew Peart (B. Appl. Sci. Hort, Grad. Dip. Hort.) DoK
Senior Agronomist 
Profile:
Andrew joined the AGCSA from Turfgrass Technology in 2002 and heads up AGCSA's technical division AGCSATech. Andrew is responsible for the smooth running of AGCSATech's daily operations which include soil, water and tissue testing, disease diagnosis and contract research.

John GearyJohn Geary
Environmental Agronomist
Profile:
John joined the AGCSA as environmental agronomist in October 2008. Well known among the Victorian superintendent community, John has been involved in the turf industry for nearly 30 years and for 17 years was superintendent at Frankston Golf Club. During his tenure there he was awarded the then AGCSA Fellowship Award in 1997. A former president and committee member of the VGCSA over a 10 year period, John assists in the delivery of AGCSATech services and heads the development of the AGCSA's water and environmental management initatives.

Simone Staples
Events and Education Manager
Profile: Simone took over as AGCSA events and education manager in 2007 after working in an admin capacity part-time. Simone, a former administration manager for the Victorian branch of the TGAA, is now responsible for putting together the AGCSA's major events, including the annual Australian Turfgrass Conference and roving workshops, as well as AGCSA education and accreditation.

Melissa Wallace 
Business Relationship Manager 
Profile: Melissa originally joined the AGCSA as executive assistant in May 2007 after an an extensive period working in executive administration within local government and not-for-profit organisations. Not long after joining, her role was expanded to include sales for both Australian Turfgrass Management journal and the annual Australian Turfgrass Conference trade exhibition and in March 2009 was appointed business relationship manager.

HR and Best Practice

Daryl Sellar (M. Agr Turf Mgt)
HR and Best Practice Manager
Profile: One of the industry's most highly respected superintendents, Daryl was brought on board by the AGCSA to head up its new HR and Best Practice Service which was launched in 2007. Sellar, consulting superintendent at Glenelg Golf Club in South Australia, was recipient of the AGCSA's Excellence in Golf Course Management Award in 2006 and went on to be named the inaugural Australian Golf Digest Superintendent of the Year that same year.

Brett Robinson (B. Communications Studies)
Editor
Profile: The token Kiwi of the office, Brett joined the AGCSA in a part-time capacity in 2003 as editor of Australian Turfgrass Management magazine. His role became full-time in 2005 and now encompasses the range of AGCSA publications, including AGCSA Action newsletter, The Cut e-mail newsletter and website management. Brett has twice won (in 2009 and 2011) the Tom Ramsey Award for excellence in journalism at the annual Australian Golf Media Awards for his coverage of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires and the article on Cottesloe Golf Club superintendent Simon Bourne.

Jo Corne
Art Director
Profile: Completing the Tri Nations flavour of the AGCSA office, South African-born Jo is responsible for the design and production of the suite of AGCSA publications and promotional material, including the association's flagship journal Australian Turfgrass Management. Jo joined the AGCSA in November 2004 after the association made the decision to bring the design of the magazine in-house.

Philip Horsburgh
Accountant
Profile: Philip has been the AGCSA's part-time accountant since 2002 and ensures the association's books are all in order. Starting his career in the drycleaning industry, Philip has an extensive background in accountancy and spent 10 years with Electrolux before joining the AGCSA.

Allison Jenkins
Administration Assistant

Profile: Allison initially joined the AGCSA team in April 2010 to assist with the Gold Coast conference and proved so valuable that she was offered a part-time role with the AGCSA as an administrative assistant.  It was a return to the workforce after seven years of being a stay-at-home mum.  Prior to that Allison was a PA to a professor of a university/hospital department at the Austin Hospital for 20 years.
